Review for Phari – The Freedom EP

On April 18, Phari, DJ and producer from near Udine in Italy, has put the 2-track EP FREEDOM into our Easter nest.

The track FREEDOM had already offered to me a few days ago as a short preview on Instagram, and I immediately became very excited about the release.

FREEDOM is categorized by Juno Downloads in the UK as techno, but you can find strong references to house sounds, which is very pleasing and a little reminiscent of the sound of House Queen LP Giobbi from the USA. And that’s what makes this track so extremely catchy.
The second track YOU CAN, is driving straight forward with 126 BPM – same as FREEDOM -, but is a bit cooler and more minimalistically designed and comes along with a hypnotic repetitive YOU CAN … vocal line.

About Phari:

Italian Dj, producer and sound engineer Stefano Fabbro aka Phari from near Udine, has passion for music in his blood since his early childhood. At music school he studied music theory and played piano and guitar. In recent years, Stefano focused on the „Music and New Technologies“ (MNT) courses at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Music in Trieste, graduating in 2022 with a degree in Sound Engineering.

Since 2010, when Phari started to work with a mixing console for the first time, he has steadily improved his mixing including his skillful selection of tracks, thus developing his own origin style.

For his DJ sets, Phari can draw on a very wide musical style bandwidth, ranging from house to techno, while his musical heart clearly beats for trech house.

Stefano has released a whole series of singles and EP’s on various labels such as On Circle Music, Stereophonic Records, Knuck! or even Marktek Records. As a multi-instrumentalist, Phari produces his versatile productions with analog synths, mostly in the tech house genre with some excursions into classic house and techno realms.

With his very independent sound he managed to get into the Tech House and Techno TOP100 on the Traxsource platform, with DISCO NIGHTS and LETS’S MOVE he even made it into the TOP 3.

He is not lacking in collaborations; since 2019 he has been cooperating with the talented Techno and Afro House DJane Lysa Chain. Together, the two have become a successful production team. Their YouTube channels are growing in popularity, as well as the weekly the radio show „Tech My House“ launched in 2020 during he pandemic, featuring the best releases from House, Tech House and of course Techno.

Through his podcasts, Phari reaches an international audience and stays in touch with fans and artists of the underground scene. He also organizes, together with Lysa Chain, the same-named „Tech My House“ events for the best underground venues in Italy.

Stefano creates his own visual graphics for each DJ set, thus he was able to acquire a profound knowledge of the software and hardware technologies used in the music industry over time. He also works as a sound engineer and teaches mixing & mastering and electronic music production for young up-and-coming artists in his studio.
