Our Review:

Einmusika Recordings, one of Berlin’s hottest electronica scene labels, has invited internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, radio host and label owner Darin Epsilon for the seventh edition of the EINMIX DJ Mix Compilation Series. The impetus for the 25-track compilation was Marc DePulse in 2021, putting Epsilon in line with established producers Einmusik, Lexer, Carlo Whale and Marius Drescher, all of whom have contributed to previous editions of the growing excellent Einmix series. EINMIX by Darin Epsilon was released on August 26, 2022 via Einmusika Recordings on all streaming platforms.

Darin Epsilon knows what it takes to create a listening experience that goes beyond the play button and deftly builds tension arcs. He is often referred to as one of the leading exponents of the Melodic House & TechHouse and Progressive House genres, and has made a name for himself with his continuous top-notch releases since entering the scene in 2006.

Since then, the industry veteran has raised his profile by sharing the spotlight with leading DJ’s and producersb such as John Digweed, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Above & Beyond, Eric Prydz and many others. In 2022, he has not only created exclusive edits for his upcoming EINMIX, but has also taken the reins on several top imprints including Family Piknik, Desert Hearts Black and Ritter Butzke.

Epsilon’s EINMIX is the first release in the series this year and features 17 exclusive edits from the Einmusika catalog as well as two of Darin’s own productions. The tracklist features selected tracks from Eelke Kleijn, Henry Saiz, Hernan Cattaneo, NTO, Sebastien Leger, Township Rebellion and Einmusika boss Einmusik himself. This is Epsilon’s first long-play mix since his WE ARE KATERMUKKE DJ mix last year, an impressive compilation that celebrated the essence and underground sound of his current home in Berlin.

The process of putting this compilation together was very challenging. It’s not often that you come across a label that has such an extensive back catalog and selection of quality tracks. All in all, it took me 5 days to listen to every song they’ve ever released, and then another 2 days to determine the positioning of each song and the overall tempo of the set.

I had to make sure that each song was harmonious with the previous one and that the intensity was maintained until the end. It was a great honor and pleasure to be invited by the Einmusika team, and I greatly appreciate their continued trust and support!“ – Darin Epsilon

While in the midst of preparing for his EINMIX release, Darin is bringing his unique club set to dance addicted people and electronic dance music lovers all over the planet. On his summer tour, he has performed in Bangladesh, Vietnam and India, and in the coming months, he will be in Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Germany and the Netherlands to take over the decks. Of special note, Epsilon will be hosting his label Perspectives Digital’s showcases during ADE in Berlin and Amsterdam on October 22 – find tour dates below, tickets, and more info HERE.

The Bottom Line:

Darin Epsilon has done a great job here, putting together an excellent DJ mix through the entire, wide-ranging Einmusika portfolio. The tracks are compiled with great care, the mix is looking homogeneous and cohesive, the arcs of tension are staged grandiosely. Many tracks of Einmusik, who I consider one of the best producers in Europe, you already know, as well as the stuff of Jonas Saalbach. And again and again you get stuck as a fan with one or the other track inevitably, such as immediately the third track on this mix „Sleep Walk feat. Valentine“ from 2015 – A typical Einmusik banger.

The mix album is available on the streaming platforms „only“ in Lossless format 16 bit / 44.1 kHz, but is beyond any doubt from a sonic point of view. Surely, however, with 24 bit it would go with significantly more dynamics and pressure.
