Review (English):

Since the release of their debut album „Paranorama“ in 2018, Deorbiting have been an integral part of the Stil vor Talent catalog. The Berlin band, whose members‘ real names are Christian Schilgen and Christoph Deckert, is now back with their debut album „Space House“- a fourteen-piece mosaic of detailed structural overlays, kinetic iridescence and otherworldly ephemera.

‚Space House‘ explores the multidimensional gaps and crevices between cosmic music, deep house, EBM and electronica through a series of tracks that act like wormholes on the duo’s signature widescreen voyages of discovery to distant worlds. Deorbiting set course for the Delta Quadrant and take us on a fast-paced interstellar journey in a Yellow Submarine in a squeaky-colorful Haribo candy space opera ambience, offering us non-stop spacey adventures.

Do you know Tribbles? Memories of fuzzy aliens come to mind, plus hissing phaser fire, fighting with bloodthirsty Russians … uhh… Klingons – all connected with a red thread full of musically narrative finesse. Deorbiting’s „Space House“ is the ideal soundtrack for newly filmed Gene Roddenbery shows with Captain Kirk in blue and yellow uniform.

Buck Rogers pop motives meet a hypermodern cosmosymbiotic club euphoria, which is processed in the warp core on the Deorbiting machine deck to an extravagantly musical mixture of the alien warmth of 80s synthwave with the futuristic minimalism of top modern dancefloor compatibility. THE JOURNEY, DAS KOSMISCHE BALLET and „SPAZIERGANG IM ALL“ are captivating odes beaming the spaceship of Christian Schilgen and Christoph Deckert into the year 2200 to set off into infinite space, to explore new worlds, new life and a new civilization. Which makes a damned lot of sense, because the earth civilization of the year 2022 seems to be pretty much at its end right now.

The tracks THE JOURNEY and WORLD APART, on the other hand, with their lush Casio synths and catchy riffs, beam us through the Time Tunnel right back to the blissful VHS era when everything was better, even the future.

SERENITY combines singer HRRSN’s soft, smooth timbre with sophisticated electro-acoustic arrangements and a tailored, gravity-rhythm-construction, transporting us into a spacious all-protective sonic cocoon.
RADIO RADIO, on the other hand, is combinig the quieter atmospheric side with homey, yet highly energetic structures like rapidly cascading key sequences, low-frequency bass cues and thrillingly infectious whispers.

During the purely instrumental, bass-heavy track TOTAL RECALL and the even more robust, sharp-edged SOLID STATE, it’s best to close your eyes and see in your mind’s eye how Galactic Stormtroopers are literally combing the desert sands in time-lapse with monstrous devices — which makes no sense, like so much else at the moment. And yet, or perhaps because of this, the latter tracks are among the best on the SPACE HOUSE album.
Deorbiting’s SPACE HOUSE album is without a doubt one of the best things the stirring Stil vor Talent label has put out since March 2020, when all this shit started.

And here’s my quick best practice for really enjoying SPACE HOUSE: Watch old episodes of Buck Rogers, Flash Gorden, or Star Trek Original Series, turn the sound down, and let SPACE HOUSE by Deorbiting play along with it. And with two bags of brightly colored Haribo confectionery to eat while you watch and listen to it, you’ll be on a long 90-minute journey through infinite worlds, exploring strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. Many light years away from Earth, Deorbiting is entering sound galaxies that no human beings have ever seen before.

A brilliant album. Truly!
