About Blooy
As the son of the renowned concert pianist Jan Wijn, Blooy aka Frank Wijn from Amsterdam in the Netherlands was born with musicality. After Frank was introduced to classics such as Chopin, Ravel and Saint-Saëns as a child, he developed a passion for experimental jazz in his teenage years and started to play the drums. In the following years Frank started in the New Wave band „The Primrose Path“ as a drummer and also took over the vocals in the band.
The dark wave sound had a lasting effect on Frank and inspires him until today. In the nineties Frank switched to the house genre and together with producer and composer Dorian Broekhuyse he realized some dancefloor projects.
Arrived in the 21st century, the musical style was expanded in the direction of chillout, together with Dorian they were bringing the „Bardo State“ project forward. With beautifully harmonious melancholic Laid Back arrangements, a bit located in Nu-Classical, they were able to cause some attention internationally. Especially their interpretation of the David Bowie/Pat Metheny song „This is not America“ from 2008 still sends goosebumps up and down my spine.
Then in March 2020, with the pandemic, the „Long Dark Ages“ were coming upon us. But instead of barricading himself at home and moping around, Frank used the time to bring his new „Blooy“ solo project forward.
Blooy’s heart is beating for the musical experiment and with lo-fi hip-hop like on the new single „Magari “ he is of course knocking down open doors on my side.
The Single MAGARI
On March 25, 2022 Sine Music will release the new single „Magari“ by Blooy. The lo-fi ambient track is available at a huge number of download – and streaming portals.
With verve Blooy has released his new single MAGARI up into the sky another incomparably beautiful Lo-Fi / Downtempo butterly. Beautiful sound with beautiful natural samples and the typical understatment à la Blooy, according to his motto „less can be so much more“.
You can translate the Italian word ‚magari‘ as „perhaps“, „maybe“ or even „possibly“. And yes, possibly “MAGARI” paraphrases something like hope for something beautiful and maybe something powerful, espacially when in these times the incorrigible would love to pillage the whole world. But to me this interpretation of MAGARI would sound too much like „A little peace“.
„MAGARI“ tells me decidedly more: namely, that we should PERHAPS stand together for the things that make our lives so infinitely valuable, here in Europe and everywhere in the world where peace and freedom reigns. A decision that we MIGHT master with all calmness and composure, but also with great unity and determination.
